On Monday, June 18, 2007 the earthmoon occults planet Venus on daylight sky. In Woodquarter the occultation happens on the southern sky at an elevation of about 60 degrees. In Woodquarter this is a total occultation. The planet disappeares at 14h27 UTC behind the dark moon limb and reappeares about 81 minutes later at 15h48 UTC on the bright moon limb. At this time the sun is in an elevation of 42 to 29 degrees above the southwest horizon and in a distance of only 42 degrees.

The disk of planet Venus is 44 percent lit by the sun on this day and shows a halfmoon like shape.

This occultation is observable with the unaided eye. But if using an optical device never look in the sun with it. Your eye would be damaged immediately and for ever.
