On Tuesesday, July 17, 2007 the Earthmoon (9% lit) occults star Regulus on the bright daylight sky. In Woodquarter the occultation happens on southeast sky in an elevation of 9 degrees. In Woodquarter this occultation is a total one. The star will disappeare behind the dark side of the moon disk at 07h32 UTC and will reappear about 56 minutes later at 08h28 UTC on the bright moon limb. The sun will be than in an elevation of 49 degrees on southeast sky and in a distance of 36 degrees to the moon.
For a sucessfull observation of this occultation a telescope with at least 4 Inches (10cm) should be used. Never look in the sun with the telescope. Your eye would be damaged immediately and for ever.
